Types of ceremony

• Time: Monday through Thursday on the hour (not on the half-hour) between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  This is subject to our ability to provide an available staff member and a location. 
   
• Language: Dutch. 
   
• Duration: 15 to 20 minutes. 
   

• Wedding venue: the Council Chamber at City Hall.

• Number of guests: The Council Chamber seats approximately 30–35 people.
   
• 
  Wedding Officiant We are happy to select a suitable and available wedding officiant for you. You cannot specify a preference here. A private wedding officiant (not employed by the municipality of Son en Breugel) is not permitted for this type of ceremony.   
   
• Music
  No music is played during a simple ceremony. 
   
• Preliminary track  
  In a simple ceremony, there is no room for speeches from other attendees. The wedding officiant creates a personal, Dutch-language speech tailored to your needs. This is based on the input you provide:
  • A questionnaire with practical information.

  • A letter stating your personal story and wishes. 

• Registration deadline (ceremony including speech)
  If you would like a personalized speech, please allow approximately 8 weeks between the time of registration and your wedding or civil partnership ceremony. If you register later than this, there is a risk that there will not be enough time to prepare a speech. 

• Modification/cancellation 
  Please note that after registration, change fees are in effect as soon as you change witnesses/day/time, for example.
  • up to 1 week before the ceremony: € 85,00
  • 1 week or less before the ceremony: €137.50

• A marriage/partnership certificate is included. 

Cost 

• Time
  • 24 hours a day on the hour (no half hours), subject to official and location availability.
  • Available 7 days a week.

• Language
  : Speeches in Dutch or English (please note: none of our wedding officiants are native speakers). 
   
• Duration
  The ceremony lasts up to 45 minutes. 
   
• Wedding Location
  • City Hall (Council Chamber, with seating for 30/35 people).
  • Other venues in Son and Breugel can be nominated as one-time wedding venues as follows:
    • Register your marriage/partnership using the online notification form.
    • Enter in the "additional information" field that you are choosing a private wedding venue.
    • We will contact you to arrange the one-time designation with you. 

• Wedding officiant
  You can indicate your preference for a wedding officiant from our team. Please do so using the online registration form. 

• Private Wedding Officiant
  Please read the accompanying Requirements information on additional costs carefully to avoid disappointment. 
  When registering your marriage or civil partnership, please indicate in the “Additional Information” field that you will be using your own wedding officiant. If in doubt, please contact us (0499-491491 / trouwen@sonenbreugel.nl), and we will verify together whether the officiant of your choice is eligible to perform your ceremony. 
   
• Music
  You may play music (please provide your own) upon arrival or while signing the deed. 
   
• Preparation 
  We ask you to provide the following input.
  • A questionnaire with practical information.
  • A letter stating your personal story and wishes for the speech.

• 
  Planning Process Before the ceremony, you will have a personal meeting with your wedding officiant. During this meeting, your wishes and the available options will be discussed. Your wedding officiant will gather additional information during this preliminary meeting to incorporate into his or her speech. 

• Registration deadline (ceremony including speech)
  If you would like a personalized speech, please allow approximately 10 weeks between the time of registration and your wedding or civil partnership ceremony. If you register later than this, there is a risk that there will not be enough time to prepare a speech. 

• Modification/cancellation 
  Please note that after registration, change fees are in effect as soon as you change witnesses/day/time, for example.
  • up to 1 week before the ceremony: € 85,00
  • 1 week or less before the ceremony: €137.50
     
• A marriage/partnership certificate is included.
   
• You may keep the pen used to sign the document.

Cost

• Only possible if 1 of you both lives in Son en Breugel.
• Space for up to 10 people (including (bridal) couple/witnesses).
• The ceremony takes place in a consulting room at City Hall.
• Only the legal part of the consummation is covered.
• No pre-meeting with the wedding officiant, music or speeches possible.
