Motion: Bike-friendly Son en Breugel

The council asks the college to use the following statements as guidelines when developing the mobility plan.

  1. The council considers the bicycle to be one of the primary means of transport, both for travel from the neighborhoods to the center of Son en Breugel, as well as to the surrounding towns and villages, and for commuting between home and work.
  2. Bicycle facilities within village centers and bicycle paths to neighboring municipalities should be given the same priority as highways;
  3. To further encourage cycling and make it more attractive, the council is committed to further improving these cycling facilities and connections.
  4. Bicycle paths must be well lit. Where possible, modern, dynamic bicycle path lighting should be preferred in forest and nature areas.
  5. Existing bicycle paths and bicycle lanes should preferably comply with the current standards of the CROW bicycle council.[1];
  6. For overall safety, and that of cyclists in particular, the aim should be to design the roads in the village in such a way that it is not possible to drive faster than 30 km/h.
  7. The aim should be for every neighborhood to have a main cycle route to the center and a connection to cycle paths to neighboring municipalities.
