Can't come to the polling place yourself? Then you can authorize someone to do this for you.

You do this through the back of your voting card ("private authorization"). How? You can find out below.

⚠️ Important: The person who votes for you may only do so at the same time as he or she votes for you. Therefore, it is not possible to come to the polling station earlier or later to cast your vote alone.

 Requirements

  • A person may be authorized by up to 2 persons.
The authorized person may cast a total of 3 votes: 1 for himself and 2 for other persons.
  • The proxy shall cast all vote(s) at the same time as his own vote.

Private authorization

You can authorize someone to cast your vote using your voting card . This is called a private authorization.

  1. Check if someone may vote for you
    - The person you authorize must live in the same municipality as you.
    - The person you authorize may be authorized by a maximum of 2 people (i.e. it is not possible to vote for 3 others).

  2. Voting card completion
You and the authorized representative fill out and sign the back of your voting card.

  3. Bring voting card and copy of identification
Give the proxy your voting card and a copy of your valid identification (this may be either a paper copy or a photo on your phone or tablet).

  4. Voting on your behalf
On election day, the proxy will cast a vote on your behalf.
Please note that the person can only do this at the same time that he/she is casting a vote for himself/herself. So it is not possible for someone to come and vote for themselves in the morning and come back in the afternoon to cast the your vote.

Written authorization

Until Friday, Oct. 24, you could request a written proxy (via an L8 form). The proxy then received a proxy card allowing that person to cast your vote.

As of Oct. 25, this option is no longer available.
