Moos Pieroen (Grade 7)

Hello,

My name is Moos Pieroen and I’m 9 years old. I’m in 7th grade at De Bloktempel Elementary School in Son. I live in Son with my parents and brother. I’m a member of the Mgr. Bekkers Group Scouts and serve on the youth council of “11 van ons mooie krutjesgat.”

I'd like to make Son en Breugel a better place for children, for example by adding more playgrounds and play areas and building a pump track in Son.

Best regards, Moos

OUTSIDE

Neele van Doorn (8th grade)

My name is Neele van Doorn, and I'm 11 years old. I'm in 8th grade at BuitensteBinnen Elementary School. I live with my parents and brother in Son en Breugel.

My hobbies are: drawing, painting, hanging out with my friends, dancing, singing, doing my makeup, acting, and eating sweets!

I love music, pandas, animals, and traveling.

I am on the youth council because I have some great ideas that I would like to share. Maybe they will come true.

I would like to

  • that a playground for people in wheelchairs will be built in Son en Breugel.
  • that people who own dogs clean up after their dogs. For example, placing trash cans with waste bags near the field in Breugel next to the Pieter Brueghel Tennis Club.

Marie van den Oever (7th grade)

Hi, I'm Marie and I'm 9 years old. I joined the youth town council because I like doing things for our town, and I enjoy sharing my own ideas.

I enjoy working with others, and that’s how I come up with my own ideas, for example:

  • More playgrounds for older children, made with more natural materials
  • Sports Activities During the Holidays
  • Organizing Activities with Schools at the Nursing Home
  • More green spaces in the village and in the playgrounds

By "more playgrounds for older children," I mean that most playgrounds are designed for younger children, and natural materials like wood are better for the environment.

Sports activities during the holidays are just fun for everyone in the village.

Organizing activities with schools at the nursing home is fun for the children and for the elderly as well.

More greenery in the village and in the playgrounds—I'd like to form a group, for example, and go out to maintain them once every few months.

I want to make sure everyone in our village has a great year.

The Stokland

Kyam Thielemans (8th grade)

My name is Kyam Thielemans. I'm 11 years old and I live in Son. I'm in 8th grade at Stokland School.

Why am I a member of the youth city council?:

  • I wanted to become a member of the youth council so that I can help make our village even more enjoyable.
  • I would like to learn to work together with other children to do this.

What do I want to achieve?

  • I want everyone to enjoy themselves in Son en Breugel and to make it even better than it already is.

The Harlequin

Sander Kolman (8th grade)

I think Son en Breugel is a very nice village. It's very green here and you can play outside really well. I think the Dommel river, the pond, and the woods are the most beautiful parts of Son en Breugel. That's where I like to go.

I like to play with my friends in the Molenwiek, in the schoolyard, and on the Oranjeveld. There are always lots of children there.

I want Son en Breugel to remain a pleasant village for all children and adults.

I would like to see more fun things for children, such as:

  • Glow-in-the-dark soccer night
  • a children's vegetable garden
  • a street art competition
  • a movie night on the Church Square

I will listen carefully to other children and their ideas and organize things together with them.

Suze van Ginneken (7th grade)

Hi, I'm Suze.

I am 10 years old and was born at the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch. My hobbies are dancing, trampoline jumping, and designing. My sport is gymnastics, which I’ve been doing for 5 years now. I live at home with Mom, Dad, my older sister Esmee, and my brother Cas. I have one pet—a dog named Ben. I’m excited to join the Youth City Council because I’m a good listener and I’m not afraid to speak my mind. Here are some ideas I already have:

  • More public trash cans
  • School Olympiad
  • Higher curbs, so children can cross the street more safely
  • New Books in the Library
  • A playground for children with disabilities as well as typically developing children

Best regards, Suze

The Space

Elise Beliën (8th grade)

My name is Elise Beliën, and I live with my dad, mom, little sister, and cat in Son en Breugel. I’m in 8th grade at De Ruimte Elementary School. In my free time, I like to crochet and do fun things with my family. I’m in my second year on the youth city council. In my first year, my working group and I tried to create a nature-friendly playground on our school grounds, but we couldn’t finish it in just one year, so we’re continuing that project this year. We’ve already done a lot of work on this, like looking at the playground equipment and figuring out how much space we need.

Best regards, Elise Beliën
