What: pruning of municipal trees

Starting March 16, 2026, we will begin maintenance on municipal trees in the neighborhoods of De Vloed, Centrum, 't Harde Ven, Breeakker, Buitengebied Breeakker, 't Eigen, Breugel, and Hoogstraat. 

The work will take approximately until the end of May, depending on weather conditions. We will work outside of rush hour. We plan to prune the trees on Gentiaanlaan during the May holiday, when the school that the diversion route passes by will be closed, so there will be no disruption for the students. 

We only prune trees when it is really necessary. This may be to maintain sufficient space for traffic or street lighting, or to ensure the long-term health of the tree. By pruning in a targeted manner, we ensure that the tree population remains balanced and the green appearance of the neighborhoods is preserved.

What: Replacing and upgrading power lines in Son and Breugel
Where: In the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel.
When: as of April 2025

Enexis Netbeheer is going to expand the power grid in Son en Breugel. Together we are generating more and more sustainable energy with, among other things, solar panels and we are using more power for electric cooking, electric driving or a heat pump. Not only in Son & Breugel, but throughout the Netherlands. The electricity grid as constructed in the past is not equipped for this. This requires new, stronger cables in the ground. Enexis is proactively expanding the power grid to prevent problems. We call this 'network reinforcement'. By strengthening the grid, the electricity supply remains reliable and safe for residents and businesses. Enexis and the municipality are working together on this. The work will be carried out by Hurkmans and Hanab.

New power cables have been laid from Thermaelaan in Son to Ekkersweijer in Best. At the spot where the extra power cables are being laid, the forest edge will be rearranged at the same time and thus considerably improved.

From April 2025, part of the power grid in the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel will also be replaced and expanded. The work consists of:

• Improving or renovating existing power houses. This is done inside the power houses and is not visible from the outside;
• The installation of new power houses;
• Excavation to replace and reinforce cables, in the street and under the sidewalk.
