What: paving work

Next week, from Tuesday, October 13, through Friday, October 16, paving work will be carried out on Piet Heinlaan and Planetenlaan. The work is intended to improve the quality and safety of the roads. 

• The asphalt on Planetenlaan, between Gentiaanlaan and Piet Heinlaan, is being replaced. New road markings will also be applied.
• The asphalt on Piet Heinlaan, from Evertsenlaan to the Doormanlaan/Van Gentlaan intersection, is being replaced. The gutter tiles are also being repaired. The red coating will be applied to the bike lanes at a later date.

During the work, there may be temporary traffic disruptions, limited access, and detours. Traffic controllers will direct traffic.

In case of bad weather, work may start later, be temporarily suspended, or take longer than planned.

What: Removal of dead and unsafe trees
Where: various locations in Son en Breugel
When: starting October 14, 2026

Details

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, we will begin removing approximately 50 trees at various locations in Son en Breugel. The trees have died or are unsafe. The trees are being removed to prevent unsafe situations
. The trees have been marked with a purple/pink cross.
We will be removing a large number of trees on Aziëlaan. These are trees that suffered greatly during the extremely wet period in 2024.

Details

Enexis Netbeheer is going to expand the power grid in Son en Breugel. Together we are generating more and more sustainable energy with, among other things, solar panels and we are using more power for electric cooking, electric driving or a heat pump. Not only in Son & Breugel, but throughout the Netherlands. The electricity grid as constructed in the past is not equipped for this. This requires new, stronger cables in the ground. Enexis is proactively expanding the power grid to prevent problems. We call this 'network reinforcement'. By strengthening the grid, the electricity supply remains reliable and safe for residents and businesses. Enexis and the municipality are working together on this. The work will be carried out by Hurkmans and Hanab.

New power cables have been laid from Thermaelaan in Son to Ekkersweijer in Best. At the spot where the extra power cables are being laid, the forest edge will be rearranged at the same time and thus considerably improved.

From April 2025, part of the power grid in the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel will also be replaced and expanded. The work consists of:

• Improving or renovating existing power houses. This is done inside the power houses and is not visible from the outside;
• The installation of new power houses;
• Excavation to replace and reinforce cables, in the street and under the sidewalk.
