Youth: help with parenting and growing up

The cmd.'s Youth Team is here to help you. Do you have questions about parenting, growing up or youth assistance? And do you no longer succeed in solving them yourself or with the help of people around you? Then you can come to us. The people in the team work at different aid organizations. They can help you briefly themselves or refer you to a specialist.

You can contact us if:

  • You have questions about how you are raising your child and how your child is developing.
  • Your family is having a difficult time and you are worried about your children.
  • Your child or family needs additional help from a specialist.

Youth Team professionals work for:

  • MEE
  • LEV group
  • Municipality of Son and Breugel

Specialist youth assistance

The municipality is responsible for various forms of youth aid, also called specialized youth aid. This help may include:

  • Outpatient assistance (in your home).
  • Day Treatment.
  • Guidance.
  • Residential Treatment.
  • Mental Health Services (GGZ).
  • Closed Youth Care.

How does it work?

  1. You report to the cmd.
You tell us what you are concerned about. For example, about parenting, your child's behavior, or problems in the family.
  2. The cmd. examines with you your request for help
Together with you, we examine exactly what is going on. Are there parenting problems, psychological complaints or other concerns?
  3. It looks at what you can do yourself
The cmd. examines whether you, your family or people close to you can help yourself. Only if that is not enough will professional help be used.
  4. The cmd. checks for existing help
Sometimes a general facility is already available, such as a parenting course.
  5. The cmd. reviews what help is needed
It determines what kind of help is needed, how often and for how long. The help should help your child grow up healthy and safe.
  6. A decision is made
You will receive an official decision stating what help you will receive and why.

These steps ensure that care is taken and that you receive appropriate help.

Youth aid: choosing between Health in kind or a pgb

If your child needs youth help, you can choose how that help is arranged. There are two options:

  • Health in kind (sentence)
The municipality arranges the help for you. You do not have to organize anything yourself. The help comes from an organization the municipality works with.

  • Personal budget (pgb)
You receive money from the municipality to buy help yourself. You choose your own care provider and make your own arrangements. You must be able to explain why you want this help and you must do the administration yourself.

What should you be able to do with a pgb?

If you want a pgb, you must be pgb-capable. This means that you must, among other things:

  • Be able to arrange help yourself and make good choices,
  • Be able to make clear agreements with the social worker,
  • Be able to keep good records (such as bills and contracts).

The cmd. staff member will review with you whether you meet the Requirements .

Pgb not in own bank account

You don't get the money in your own account. The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) manages the money for you. You send the bills to the SVB, and they pay the caregiver.

The help must be good

The help you arrange with a pgb must meet quality requirements and at least be safe and of good quality. The employee of the cmd. checks this. So you cannot choose just any care provider.

Referral through a physician or specialist

A youth doctor or specialist can also refer your child directly to youth care. You do not have to arrange anything through the municipality, as long as the care provider has a contract with the municipality. Does the provider not have a contract? Then contact the cmd. They will look at the possibilities.
