Guidelines for geocaching in public spaces.
The municipality of Son and Breugel allows geocaching. This is a fun way to be active outdoors. But we do want to prevent the game from creating unsafe situations. For example, in residential areas, parks or nature reserves.
You do not need a permit or waiver to place a geocache. But you do need to notify the municipality in advance. You also need permission for the location.
On geocaching.com you will find the general rules of the game. These rules also apply in our community. We also have additional game rules to keep the game safe and enjoyable.
1. What is geocaching?
Geocaching is an outdoor game. In it, you use a GPS or phone to find a hidden "treasure" (cache). A cache is usually a small box with a logbook. Sometimes it also contains small swap items. Geocaching is a fun way to go on an adventure outdoors and discover new places.
