Advertising placement
Directly regulate
What is it?
You may not simply place advertising on or attached to a building. The advertising must not, for example, endanger traffic. If you want to place an advertising sign on a building, you must apply for an environmental permit from the municipality.
This is advertising that you place on or attached to a building. These include signs, banners and text or images on walls.
What to do.
Through Omgevingsloket online you can find out if you need to apply for a permit. You can submit the application online immediately.
In those cases where an APV permit is required, you must submit a written request to Mayor and Aldermen for permission to place the billboard at least four weeks prior to the time of placement. If the application is denied by mayor and aldermen, you may file a notice of objection.
Parking advertising vehicle waiver
It is prohibited to park on the road a vehicle marked with a commercial advertising indication with the apparent purpose of using it for commercial advertising.
An exemption from this can be requested. You can only get exemption from the ban if it is advertising for idealistic (charitable) causes.
How does it work?
The municipality determines whether you get the permit. It can refuse the permit because:
- the advertising does not fit into the environment;
- the advertising does not match the building where it is placed;
- the advertising disturbs road users;
- advertising damages the road;
- advertising interferes with the maintenance and management of the road.
In those cases where a permit is not required, a written request must still be submitted to the mayor and aldermen since the regulations in the of municipality (available for a fee on CD-ROM at the Department of Public Services in City Hall) are specific requirements for advertising.
If advertising signs are placed on, on or near a national monument, an environmental permit must be applied for, both for the activity of building and altering a monument.
What does it cost?
The rates can be found in the dues regulation.
