We find it important that Ekkersrijt business park is and remains an attractive area for visitors, entrepreneurs and their staff. Besides attention to safety and accessibility, we believe that attention should also be paid to green, sustainability and space, now and in the future. 

We have been receiving complaints from business owners for some time about unsafe and undesirable parking situations. Therefore, we are adjusting various parking situations and taking various parking measures. Among other things, we also looked at the possibilities of improving the green environment.

What will change?

In several sub-areas of Ekkersrijt, we are adjusting the parking situation.

• We establish a parking prohibition zone on Ekkersrijt 3000 to 3300 and Ekkersrijt 4200 to 4400. In the no parking zone, parking is only allowed in the parking spaces.
  We construct new parking spaces at the places where safe parking is possible. The no parking zone will be indicated by signs at the beginning and end of the area. 
• On parts of Ekkersrijt 1000 and Ekkersrijt 1200 to 1400, we will place yellow stripes on the sidewalks. At locations with a yellow stripe it is not allowed to stop or park. We place the yellow stripes at locations where stationary vehicles can cause inconvenience and unsafe situations, for example near exits. Parking is never permitted at intersections.
• At Science Park 5200 (southwest section), we are constructing a walking path in the existing green strip. Parking in the green strip will no longer be allowed from the construction of the walking path. At a later stage, we will provide improvements to the green space. This measure will allow employees to walk safely in the Science Park. 
• On Verlengde Huizingalaan, we will establish a parking ban for the current parking lanes. We will indicate this parking ban with signs.

Planning

At the end of June the signage was placed for the parking ban zone on Ekkersrijt 4200 to 4400 and for the parking ban on Verlengde Huizingalaan. The new walkway at Science Park 5200 has also been installed. The new parking situation is now active here. 

The implementation of the other parking measures has been postponed. We have received objections to these parking measures. The objections are being handled by an independent objections committee. We are waiting to introduce the other parking measures until the objections committee has issued its opinion.
