On August 24, 2022, the Council of State upheld the appeals, annulled the zoning plan in its entirety, and instructed us to take a new decision within 52 weeks.

Motion: No municipalities without money

The council calls on the newly formed Cabinet to stipulate in the coalition agreement that:

  1. Municipalities can achieve important social objectives by making sufficient funds available for this purpose;
  2. Municipalities should have sufficient resources at their disposal on a structural basis via the municipal fund, for example by abolishing the scaling discount, continuing the existing financing system, and indexing the funds in line with actual (rising) costs for statutory (Health) tasks.
  3. Municipalities are given control options and powers that are appropriate to their tasks and responsibilities;
  4. Municipalities should never again find themselves in a situation where they are assigned tasks but do not receive the necessary resources to carry them out.
  5. Intergovernmental (financial) relations based on equality and cooperation are restored and consolidated.

The council requests the college to adopt this motion:

  • to inform the informateur and negotiating parties on behalf of the municipality of Son en Breugel;
  • to bring to the attention of the standing House Committee on Home Affairs;
  • Please send a copy to the action committee Raden in verzet.
