List of Public Resolutions from the City Council Meeting on October 15, 2026
Approval of the 6th Amendment to the General Regulation of the Brabant-Southeast Municipal Health Service (GGD)
The council takes note of the Joint Regulation (GR) for the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost, as adopted on July 1, 2026, by the GGD’s Administrative Board.
The council authorizes the executive committee to adopt the 6th amendment to the Joint Regulation for the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost.
The updated GR provides a sound legal basis for the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost to carry out its duties.
Adoption of the Amended Ordinance on Municipal Honors of the Municipality of Son en Breugel
The council adopts the 2026 Son en Breugel Municipal Awards Regulation.
Son en Breugel has various municipal awards designed to recognize residents, volunteers, and young people who have contributed to the community. In implementing the ordinance, it has become apparent that some provisions do not allow sufficient flexibility to address real-world situations.
Change in Membership and Alternate Membership of the General Board of the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region
The council decides
- to appoint Mayor Suzanne Otters-Bruijnen as a member of the General Board of the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region;
- Alderman To appoint Mireille Bonnier as an alternate member of the General Board of the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region.
These appointments will result in a more balanced distribution of regional roles within the council.
City Council Agenda 2026–2030
The Council resolves to adopt the 2026–2030 Council Agenda, “Working Together Toward a Strong, Inclusive, and Green Son en Breugel,” as the basis for the direction, collaboration, and evaluation of municipal policy during this administrative term.
The Council requests that the Executive Board develop the 2026–2030 Council Agenda into an implementation plan and present it to the Council in the first quarter of 2027.
Motion Not on the Agenda: Clarity and a Vision for Van den Elsenstraat 36
The council has adopted the motion and asks the executive board:
- to enter into discussions with the COA in the near future to clarify the feasibility and actual implementation of using Van den Elsenstraat 36 as a shelter for asylum seekers;
- to adopt as a starting point that a concrete plan must be in place no later than six months after the adoption of this motion, with clarity regarding its details, schedule, and next steps;
- if, within this timeframe, there is insufficient concrete indication that the COA will actually begin using the site, to submit a proposal to the council to make the site available for another purpose, including (regular) housing construction as a possibility;
- to identify what other options are available for the municipality to contribute to the reception of asylum seekers, should this location not be used for that purpose. 5. To regularly inform the municipal council, during the specified six-month period, about the progress of the discussions with the COA.
