Support for family caregivers
What is it?
Many people often care for someone close to them for long periods of time. Think of a sick parent, a partner suffering from dementia, a handicapped child or, for example, a neighbor who can no longer manage herself very well. Because Health a needy or sick person is usually at the center of their lives, there is a danger that informal caregivers overextend themselves. As a result, the informal caregiver runs the risk of becoming physically or mentally overburdened.
What to do.
To support family caregivers, the Mantelzorg Steunpunt has been established. Here you can go for:
- emotional support, individual and group (peer groups)
- course offerings and theme meetings
- practical support
- activities for young family caregivers
- activities on the Day of Mantel Care
- informal care café (walk-in)
- newsletter
There is no charge for the services listed above!
Check the CMD's website for more information and opportunities.
Signing up as a caregiver
You can also register as an informal caregiver. You will then automatically receive the newsletter (free of charge) which will keep you informed of the activities organized by the support center and you will be eligible for a municipal volunteer appreciation in the course of the year.
Of course, you can always drop in at the support center's consultation hour at the CMD (Center for Social Participation).
