Royal honor for Council Member Frans Meulenbroeks

On Monday, March 30, 2026, Mayor Suzanne Otters–Bruijnen presented a royal honor to Mr. F.P.J. Meulenbroeks, a member of the Son en Breugel City Council. 
Mr. Meulenbroeks received this honor for his longstanding service as a public representative. The presentation took place during a special council meeting on Monday, March 30, 2026. During this meeting, Mr. Meulenbroeks bid farewell to the municipal council after 30 years of service.

Mr. Frans Meulenbroeks (68) is stepping down as a city council member.

He joined the Son en Breugel City Council on February 29, 1996. He subsequently served on the City Council for seven consecutive full terms.

This remarkable 30-year tenure as a council member places Mr. Meulenbroeks among the most experienced local elected officials in the Netherlands. During this period, his commitment and dedication extended beyond the municipality of Son en Breugel. Mr. Meulenbroeks was active in several regional working groups and partnerships. His contributions were always constructive and unifying, and often even pioneering. These included both policy-shaping contributions and efforts aimed at establishing sustainable partnerships between municipalities and civil society organizations. His performance in the municipal council, committees, working groups, and partnerships demonstrates administrative sensitivity, strategic insight, and a highly developed ability to reconcile interests. Thanks to these qualities, Mr. Meulenbroeks, as a council member, has been able to make a significant contribution to cross-municipal developments that are meaningful for the entire region.

In addition, over the years Mr. Meulenbroeks has held various positions at different organizations, including the Oase Youth Center, the De Dommelsoppers carnival association, the SBC soccer club, the Mgr. Bekkers Scouting Group, and De Zonnebloem.
