Intensive collaboration with Summa

We will be working closely with Summa. The aim of this collaboration is to strengthen the connection between MBO students and the municipality, offering young people and adults opportunities to develop through (practice-oriented) education and internships. Jochem Meulesteen, member of Summa's Executive Board, and Alderman de Jong (Personnel and Organization) of the municipality of Son en Breugel signed a cooperation agreement today. 

"Through this long-term partnership, we can introduce young people and adults to working for a local government through their education and encourage them to pursue a career in government," saysAlderman Jong. "It's a win-win situation. Students benefit from a good internship, which we can offer them. And we get a fresh perspective and good questions from the students and, later on, hopefully their interest in working for us or another government agency."

Internships

Summa and the municipality want to make optimal use of each other's facilities, networks, and expertise through this collaboration. Meulesteen: "We see that finding suitable internships for our vocational students is not always easy. That is why it is valuable that the municipality of Son en Breugel is explicitly opening itself up to our students and recognizing and facilitating the added value of their efforts. Our students bring craftsmanship and a fresh, practical perspective to the organization. They are the backbone of our society. We know that many organizations already offer internships, and we are grateful to them for that. Where other governments, companies, or institutions see opportunities to join or expand on this, we are happy to help shape that together."

Professionals

With this collaboration, Summa and the municipality are demonstrating their desire to invest jointly in well-trained professionals for local and regional government. Students are given the opportunity to put their education into practice immediately, and the municipality brings practical experience into the classroom.
