Applying for Distinction

What is it?

The municipality of Son and Breugel presents the Volunteer Medal every year around the turn of the year. The Volunteer Medal is awarded as a token of appreciation. Both residents and non-residents who have selflessly rendered service to the Son en Breugel community in any area of social life are eligible. You can think of people who have selflessly performed volunteer work for several years in the field of, for example, sports, art, culture, church life, nature, foster care or public order and safety. Whether or not in an organized structure.

What to do.

Do you know someone who is eligible for the volunteer medal? If so, you can nominate that person for the medal to be awarded annually. Such a nomination starts by completing a short online application. You indicate who the person is and what volunteer duties they have performed.

A city staff member will then contact you to discuss the application and see if additional information is needed.

All applications submitted by November 24 will be submitted to the College of Mayor and Aldermen. The college chooses the candidate and submits that choice to the Presidium (the presidents of the groups on the City Council) for approval.

Candidates who were not elected may be re-nominated in a subsequent round.
