Municipal Archives
What is it?
The Municipal Archives preserves all kinds of written records, Maps, photographs and newspaper clippings. In the municipal archive you can find information about:
- Your family's history (genealogy research)
- a residential home or business
- a neighborhood or district
- the municipality itself
What to do.
To consult the Municipal Archives, you must make an appointment with the document information officer in advance. You may also submit a written request to consult the archives.
In general, the first civil registration records date from 1811 and the oldest population registers from 1850. Often only a small part of these can be found in the municipal archives. For records older than 30 years, visit the Regionaal Historisch Centrum in Eindhoven, the provincially established State Archives in 's-Hertogenbosch or the State Archives in The Hague.
The Municipal Archives and the archives of the Regional Historical Center in Eindhoven can help.
