Municipal Archives

What is it?

The municipal archives store all kinds of written documents, Maps, photographs, and newspaper clippings. In the municipal archives, you can find information about:

  • your family history (genealogy)
  • a residential house or business
  • a neighborhood or district
  • the municipality itself

What to do.

To consult the Municipal Archives, you must make an appointment in advance with the documentary information officer. You can also submit a written request to consult the archives.

In general, the first civil registry records date from 1811 and the oldest population registers from 1850. Often, only a small portion of these can be found in the municipal archives. For data older than 30 years, you can contact the Regional Historical Center in Eindhoven, the provincial State Archives in 's-Hertogenbosch, or the State Archives in The Hague.

The Municipal Archives and the archives of the Regional Historical Center in Eindhoven can help you with this.

What does it cost?
