The Municipality of Son en Breugel supports the No (Plastic) Filter Campaign!

Every year, approximately 1 billion cigarette filters end up in the environment in the Netherlands. These cigarette butts are the largest source of plastic litter. They leach harmful substances such as nicotine, heavy metals, and microplastics into the environment.

That is why we are joining the international call for a ban on cigarette filters. Together with more than 50 municipalities, we are calling for a cleaner and healthier living environment.

Just cleaning up won’t solve the problem. That’s why we prefer to tackle the root cause.
