Dommel Pass reopens on December 18
On December 18, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., the Dommelpas will be reopened to pedestrians and cyclists. Alderman Boersma will cut the ribbon in the presence of construction contractor F.P.H. Ploegmakers. The contractor will hand out Christmas cookies to the first attendees to thank residents for their understanding and patience.
The Dommelpas Bridge and the cycle path between Koekoeklaan and Doormanlaan had been closed to all traffic since September 29. Pedestrians and cyclists were diverted. The reason for the closure was the replacement of the bridge and the redesign of the cycle path. This work has now been completed, one month ahead of schedule. The Dommelpas will now once again be a safe, sustainable crossing between Son and Breugel for many years to come.
Other activities in the Dommel Pass area
Poplar trees lined the bike path. These trees had reached the end of their lifespan and were therefore removed. The area will be redesigned next year. New trees will also be planted. The new design focuses on biodiversity, nature experience, education, and recreation. We willalsocontinue to address the flooding in Koekoeklaan next year.
