This week we start removing dead trees
The trees in our municipality have suffered a lot in recent years. Dry summers, followed by extreme rainfall and flooding, have resulted in severe damage and mortality. Even so bad, that we can no longer guarantee the stability and safety of the trees. Especially affected are species sensitive to wet conditions such as Norway maple. The problems are occurring in several places in the municipality, but especially in Asia Avenue the damage is clearly visible. There are many dead trees here. To avoid dangerous situations, we are removing the trees. At the bottom of this page you can see a map with all the dead trees.
Removal and replanting
The contractor will start felling the dead trees this week. We understand that this affects the appearance of neighborhoods. Not all trees will return 1-to-1 and not always in the same place. First, a replanting plan is carefully drawn up, choosing species of trees that are more resistant to changing soil and climate conditions. In the replanting plan, we also look at soil improvement and growing space. Only then are the new trees chosen and planted so that they can grow healthily and last for decades. We will start this replanting at the end of 2026.

Tree stock management system
Trees in the municipality are assessed for health during the annual Tree Safety Check (BVC). This check is carried out independently. Here, each tree is assessed for safety and vitality. The data is recorded in the municipal management system, so that we can continuously monitor the health of our tree stock.
