Mayor Presents the "Keurmerk Veilig Ondernemen" (KVO) Certificate to Ekkersrijt
During a meeting of the KVO working group, Mayor Suzanne Otters-Bruijnen presented the KVO certificate to the participating partners at the Ekkersrijt business park. It was a wonderful moment to reflect on the joint efforts of business owners, the Ekkersrijt Business Security Foundation (SBBE), the Ekkersrijt Business Association (OVE), the municipality of Son en Breugel, the police, the fire department, and other partners who work every day to ensure a clean, intact, and safe business park.
The icing on the cake
The award ceremony followed the successful audit on July 1, 2026. During the audit, Ekkersrijt received a positive evaluation, and it was confirmed that the collaboration and safety approach at the business park are in good order. The certificate therefore feels like the icing on the cake for everything we’ve built together over the past few years. It’s a wonderful recognition of the efforts of all parties involved.
A Strong Safety Organization
The auditor was particularly positive about the way security is organized at Ekkersrijt. The assessment focused not only on plans and documents, but above all on actual practices. The foundation for this was laid in recent years by the Ekkersrijt Business Security Foundation (SBBE). In its role as administrator of the collective security facilities, the SBBE initiated the KVO process and further developed it in collaboration with business owners, OVE, the municipality of Son en Breugel, the police, the fire department, and other partners. This has resulted in a strong security organization in which prevention, surveillance, cooperation, and continuous improvement go hand in hand.
With an extensive network of more than 100 cameras—including ANPR cameras on all access roads—a professional control room, mobile surveillance, and an active security coordinator, Ekkersrijt boasts one of the most comprehensive collective security structures in the region. Incidents are quickly detected, information is effectively shared, and there are short lines of communication between business owners, security partners, the municipality, and emergency services.
Working Together Toward Continuous Improvement
The collaboration within the KVO working group also received praise. The auditor observed a committed group of partners who collectively take responsibility for safety on the premises and who not only respond to problems but also actively work toward improvement. The way in which the PDCA cycle was incorporated into the action plan was specifically cited as an example of a structured and professional approach. In addition, appreciation was expressed for the quality of communication with business owners and the way in which developments and areas of concern are shared.
Safety as a Shared Responsibility
What emerged most clearly during the audit is that the big picture adds up. Safety at Ekkersrijt does not depend on a single measure or a single organization, but on strong collaboration between businesses and public partners, supported by a solid security infrastructure. Thanks to this collaborative approach, Ekkersrijt remains a business park where entrepreneurs can work, do business, and invest safely. A result we can all be proud of!
