Liberation Celebration, September 17, 2026

This year, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, we will celebrate the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Son en Breugel. We will mark the occasion with a liberation ceremony at the “De Parachutist” monument near the pond on Europalaan. Before the ceremony, you can admire the vehicles of the Camp Liberty participants on Europalaan. 

The ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. During the ceremony, after the “Taptoe” signal sounds, we will observe a minute of silence to commemorate the liberators. We will then thank the liberators by presenting them with a floral tribute. The Bloaskaken will provide musical accompaniment for this ceremony.

Bring your own floral tribute!

For the floral tribute, we ask everyone to bring a single flower. During the ceremony, everyone can place a flower at the monument.

On this day, the municipality will be flying the flag at various locations. Will you be doing the same?

Please be aware of possible traffic disruptions during the ceremony. A section of Europalaan will be closed to traffic at that time.
