During the reconstruction of the through road through the bowl of Son in 1965, a tea garden was constructed at the Raadhuisplein . This fountain was placed in that tea garden to commemorate the dropping of thousands of paratroopers of the ^101st Airborne Division on September 17, 1944 north of Son during Operation Market Garden. During the next reconstruction of the main road through the bowl of Son in 2004-2005, the tea garden was demolished and the fountain was moved to the intersection Boslaan - Europalaan - Heistraat.
