Dwelling house Dommelstraat 12
National Monument
Built in the mid-17th century. Before that, an important building called 'Dommelkaet' had stood here since the 14th century. The now oldest building in Son would go on to house various users and residents over the centuries: a town clerk, a notary, Jan Bagelaar (captain on the East Indies trade), a tax collector, the aldermen (until 1783), a clogmaker, a plumber and mayor Samuel van Hoven (19th century). Even pudding manufacturing once took place here. The section parallel to the street has a hipped roof, the rear wing at right angles to it a gable roof. The front facade features sash windows with small rods, typical of the building period. The building was completely restored in the late 1990s.
