Waste collection changes effective Jan. 1, 2024

As of Jan. 1, 2024, there are changes to waste collection. These changes are necessary to limit the rate increase in waste collection fees for all residents. What do these changes mean for you as a resident?

The number of collection days for GFT and PMD changes

PMD bags and GFT waste will now be collected structurally once every 2 weeks. In the waste calendar 2024 you can see exactly on which day GFT and PMD will be collected from you. You can find the waste calendar in the waste app of Blink, or visit Afvalkalender | Blink (myblink.nl).

Environment street's "happy hour" expires

During happy hour on Mondays, residents could offer paid streams for free at the environmental center. Effective January 1, 2024, this option will expire.
As of Jan. 1, 2024, we will apply the regular rate and the regular method for bringing waste to the Environmental Site on all days.

Blink collects with a side loader

Since October 1, 2023, Blink has been collecting GFT containers with what is known as a side loader. A side loader is a truck with an arm on one side. The driver can use this arm to pick up, empty and put back the containers. Side loaders can handle more containers per hour, thus providing a more efficient service and a lower occupational health and safety burden.

The driver can properly empty your container if your container is properly placed at the street.
Will you help make collection efficient?
This is how to put the VGF container on the street

  • Place the container on the street before 7:30 a.m.
  • Put the containers 2 by 2, tightly together
  • Keep a space of about 40 cm between sets of 2 containers
  • Line up the front of the containers (with the lid opening to the road side)
  • Place containers about 30 cm from the curb
  • A combination of a large and small container may
  •  Health ensure that the lid of the container is closed
  • Do not place the container behind or against an obstacle (lamppost, tree, fence, etc.).

Change collection day paper

The collection day for paper will also change. For current dates, check the waste calendar in Blink's waste app, or visit Waste Calendar | Blink (myblink.com).

Recycling company Het Goed and WSD collect textiles

From 1 January 2024, recycling company Het Goed, together with social development company
WSD will collect the textiles for Son and Breugel. Het Goed will do this manually, replacing the underground textile containers with above-ground containers. The textiles are then taken to WSD, which sorts them at its textile sorting center in Schijndel. Much of the collected textile is offered for sale in Het Goed's thrift stores.

Textiles are both nice, usable (dry) clothes and broken, worn (dry) clothes. And textiles are also towels, tablecloths, shoes, bags, wool blankets and curtains. Textiles are literally "anything woven or knitted. By manually emptying the textile containers, the quality of the textiles is better preserved. It is important here that only textiles are deposited in these containers. The textiles will soon be manually sorted by WSD, our social work company.
