On Monday, December 15, 2025, the Hooijdonk bridge will be closed to all road traffic.

Rijkswaterstaat carries out maintenance work and measures and inspects the bridge supports.

Several detour routes have been set up: for car traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians. The detour routes are indicated by signs.

What: Pruning hedges and planting
Where: In the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel.
When: from October 1, approximately 5 weeks

During the week of October 1, 2025, firm Van Esch will start trimming hedges on behalf of the municipality. In addition, vertical pruning of plantings will also be carried out during this period.

Work will begin in the northern part of the community and continue toward the south in the following weeks. The pruning work is expected to last until the end of November. The schedule depends on weather conditions.

With this work we ensure that the hedges and planting remain neat, safe and well maintained. During the implementation you may experience some inconvenience, for example by machines or work in your street. We ask for your understanding.

What: Replacing and upgrading power lines in Son and Breugel

Enexis Netbeheer is going to expand the power grid in Son en Breugel. Together we are generating more and more sustainable energy with, among other things, solar panels and we are using more power for electric cooking, electric driving or a heat pump. Not only in Son & Breugel, but throughout the Netherlands. The electricity grid as constructed in the past is not equipped for this. This requires new, stronger cables in the ground. Enexis is proactively expanding the power grid to prevent problems. We call this 'network reinforcement'. By strengthening the grid, the electricity supply remains reliable and safe for residents and businesses. Enexis and the municipality are working together on this. The work will be carried out by Hurkmans and Hanab.

New power cables have been laid from Thermaelaan in Son to Ekkersweijer in Best. At the spot where the extra power cables are being laid, the forest edge will be rearranged at the same time and thus considerably improved.

From April 2025, part of the power grid in the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel will also be replaced and expanded. The work consists of:

• Improving or renovating existing power houses. This is done inside the power houses and is not visible from the outside;
• The installation of new power houses;
• Excavation to replace and reinforce cables, in the street and under the sidewalk.
