Grid reinforcement Son en Breugel: work at various locations and in your neighborhood

Enexis Netbeheer is going to expand the power grid in Son en Breugel. Together we are generating more and more sustainable energy with, among other things, solar panels and we are using more power for electric cooking, electric driving or a heat pump. Not only in Son & Breugel, but throughout the Netherlands. The electricity grid as constructed in the past is not equipped for this. This requires new, stronger cables in the ground. Enexis is proactively expanding the power grid to prevent problems. We call this 'network reinforcement'. By strengthening the grid, the electricity supply remains reliable and safe for residents and businesses. Enexis and the municipality are working together on this. The work will be carried out by Hurkmans and Hanab.

New power cables are being laid from Thermaelaan in Son to Ekkersweijer in Best. At the spot where the extra power cables are being laid, the forest edge will be rearranged at the same time and thus considerably improved. From April 2025, part of the power grid in the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel will also be replaced and expanded. The work consists of:  

  • Improving or renovating existing power houses. This is done inside the power houses and is not visible from the outside;
  • The installation of new power houses; 
  • Excavation to replace and reinforce cables, in the street and under the sidewalk.

Cleaning gullies - from week 45

Starting this week 45, gullies will be cleaned on main roads. The work will last for several weeks.

The function of a gully is to drain rainwater that falls on roads and sidewalks. Leaves, sand and litter can end up in the gullies. This dirt is removed during the cleaning round. 

Regularly, trash, bags of dog poop and cement from renovations, for example, are also found in the gullies. These things do not belong in the sewer! They can cause blockage in the pipe and/or replacement of the gully.

Details

In 2024, we are scheduled to continue repaving several sidewalks, parking spaces and portions of the roadway. Repaving involves removing the paving that sticks up, cutting away the tree roots that push up the paving, and then re-laying the paving. We replace broken tiles or clinkers with new ones. This way, the sidewalks, parking spaces and roads look good again.

Several connecting roads will be closed.

They are:

  • Monday 25 November / Tuesday 26 November from 22.00 to 05.00 hrs: connecting road R from the John F. Kennedylaan in the direction A50 Son en Breugel, detour via exit 6 Ekkersrijt
  • Tuesday, November 26 / Wednesday, November 27 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: connecting road T from John F. Kennedylaan in the direction of A50 Ekkersrijt, detour via Son en Breugel exit and exit.
  • Tuesday, November 26 / Wednesday, November 27 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: connecting road H from the A50 from the direction of Son en Breugel to exit 6 Ekkersrijt / Eindhoven, detour via exit 27 Best-West of the A2
  • Wednesday, November 27 / Thursday, November 28 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: exit 6 Ekkersrijt from the direction A50 Son en Breugel, detour via exit 27 Best-West of the A2
  • Wednesday, November 27 / Thursday, November 28 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Ekkersrijt exit from John F. Kennedeylaan, rerouting via Tempellaan exit and exit.
  • Emergency services will have passage through the work area.
