What: tree pruning
Where: along Gentian Avenue
When: Tuesday, July 8, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Tuesday, July 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gentian Avenue will be closed due to tree trimming. We have set up detour routes.

We are using 2 aerial platforms to do the work as efficiently as possible and reduce disruption.

What: Applying red coating
Where: Europalaan
When: June 30 and July 2

Traffic controllers will regulate traffic, roads will not be completely closed, "half lanes" will be used.

What: Pruning trees
Where: in the neighborhoods De Gentiaan, Sonniuspark and the Buitengebied Wolfswinkel
When: starting in late April

In the neighborhoods of De Gentiaan, Sonnius Park and the Outdoor Wolfswinkel area, we started the maintenance of municipal trees. 

This year the work will be done by a new contractor. To ensure that the pruning work is done in the desired manner, we organized a practical pruning day on April 22, prior to the work in Sonnius Park. Here both the municipality and the contractor were present to meet in practice and agree on the desired level of pruning.

Only trees where it is really necessary are pruned. This may be to ensure adequate space for traffic or street lighting, for example, or to ensure the long-term health of the tree. 

By targeted pruning, we ensure that the tree stock remains balanced and the green look of neighborhoods is maintained.

What: Work on grid reinforcement
Where: Ekkersrijt
When: From week 25

Details

In week 25, work will start in the Ekkersrijt business park. Announcement and construction signs are posted at the various locations.

What will you notice about the work?

The parking lot at Ekkersrijt 6000/Houtense brug will have a storage location.
This location will be temporarily inaccessible.
You may also experience inconvenience by:

• (Noise) nuisance from work traffic or excavators;
• Worse traffic flow;
• Poorer accessibility to businesses;
• Detour for suppliers/visitors.

Note: All businesses remain accessible at all times!

Traffic situation and detour

The traffic situation is changing in phases. Detours will be signposted, and there will be a temporary traffic control installation.
The work will move from east to west. During the duration of the work, the traffic situation will change slightly each time.

Note the following changes in the starting situation. 

• Entrance Ekkersrijt 7200/7300 closed; accessible via 7500.
• Ekkersrijt 4300 closed from Ekkersrijt 6000; accessible via 4400/4500.
• Ekkersrijt 7000 becomes a one-way road with traffic lights.
• The bike path along Ekkersrijt 6000 is temporarily closed; cyclists will be diverted via 4300, 4500 and 4600. The bike path will be reopened in phases.

What: Replacement and upgrading of power lines in Son and Breugel
Where: In the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel.
When: as of April 2025 

Details

Enexis Netbeheer is going to expand the power grid in Son en Breugel. Together we are generating more and more sustainable energy with, among other things, solar panels and we are using more power for electric cooking, electric driving or a heat pump. Not only in Son & Breugel, but throughout the Netherlands. The electricity grid as constructed in the past is not equipped for this. This requires new, stronger cables in the ground. Enexis is proactively expanding the power grid to prevent problems. We call this 'network reinforcement'. By strengthening the grid, the electricity supply remains reliable and safe for residents and businesses. Enexis and the municipality are working together on this. The work will be carried out by Hurkmans and Hanab.

New power cables have been laid from Thermaelaan in Son to Ekkersweijer in Best. At the spot where the extra power cables are being laid, the forest edge will be rearranged at the same time and thus considerably improved.

From April 2025, part of the power grid in the neighborhoods in Son and Breugel will also be replaced and expanded. The work consists of:

• Improving or renovating existing power houses. This is done inside the power houses and is not visible from the outside;
• The installation of new power houses;
• Excavation to replace and reinforce cables, in the street and under the sidewalk.
