What can you do in case of flooding!

Last week Son and Breugel had to deal with very heavy rainfall twice, causing flooding in many places in Son and Breugel. On Thursday about 65 millimeters of rain fell in a short time. This caused streets and plots to be flooded and water to enter buildings.

Many residents reported water problems to the municipality. If you have flooding in your home or garden, you are responsible for solving it yourself. If you have damage, we advise you to contact your insurance company.

Know what to do in case of flooding:

We must take into account that we will have to deal with extreme weather conditions more often in the future. The municipality has therefore been taking measures in the public space to collect and drain water for some time. Think about the creation of wadis or adjustments to the sewer system. We work together with the Water Board and others in this regard.

You, too, can take measures. For example, by creating water storage in your garden and installing leaf catchers at the bottom of your downspouts. You can also disconnect your rain pipes and ensure that you have as little pavement as possible in your garden.
