What is it?

By disconnecting downspouts from the sewer, clean rainwater no longer unnecessarily enters the sewer and goes to sewage treatment. By disconnecting the rainwater, the water finds a natural path through the soil and streams to the Dommel River. You can also store the water to use in your garden to water plants and flowers.

Grant

As a municipality, we provide a one-time grant of €300 for disconnecting rainwater. 

What to do.

Rainwater that falls on your own lot must stay on your own lot. It should not flow into the sewer system or the public area, so Health that:

  • Roofs on the side and rear of are disconnected
  • Pavements, to the side and rear are disconnected

The neighborhoods 't Zand and Sonniuspark, industrial area Ekkersrijt and the rural area with pressure sewers arenot eligible for subsidy, because the rainwater here is already discharged separately. Newly built houses are not eligible for subsidies because, according to the guidelines, they must already store rainwater on their own property. No subsidy is provided for projects where the disconnection is realized by the municipality.

Grant application roadmap

The grant is applied for after the disconnection has taken place. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Make a map of your plot, showing the objects you will be disconnecting such as house, shed or garage.
  2. Take photos of the existing situations stormwater drainage(s) and paving (pavement) 
  3. Determine the number of m2 of your roof(s) and calculate how much rainwater comes from them.(you can attach/upload up to 20 mb of photos, We recommend that you take low-resolution photos and/or "resize" photos before attaching)
  4. Test the permeability of the soil in your garden
  5. With the outcome of steps 3 and 4, you will start working on the best fit for your garden.
  6. During implementation, take photos of all underground and overhead measures.
  7. Please use the buttons below to apply for your disconnection subsidy and include the floor plan and photos . Please note that you will need your DigID.

  9. You will meet the Requirements and receive the grant.

Sewer tax rebate

As the owner of a residential or commercial property, you can receive a discount on sewer taxes. For this, your entire plot must be disconnected (i.e. side, rear and front). Until 2029 you will receive a discount of € 50,- per year on the sewer tax. The neighborhoods 't Zand and Sonniuspark, industrial area Ekkersrijt and the outlying area with pressure sewers already receive this discount because in these areas the rainwater is already discharged separately.
