Test Drilling Geothermal Heat
On the Raamdijk in Stad van Gerwen, a temporary exploration well for geothermal heat will start in April. Last week preparatory work started at the site.
The purpose of this study is to Map the potential of geothermal energy for this region. This will be SCAN's sixth drilling.
At this location, SCAN will investigate multiple strata with a single drilling. Earth layers often extend far into the subsurface. Drilling at a strategically chosen location, such as the Raamdijk, provides information about a much larger area. Such as the eastern half of the province of North Brabant and the middle of Limburg.
The survey including testing will take about 9 - 10 weeks. The drilling will go to a maximum depth of 1.9 km. Then the site will be restored and returned to its original state.
