Disposable plastic is harmful to the environment

The amount of disposable plastic in the environment is increasing every year. Even in the Netherlands we throw away 19 million cups and food packaging containing plastic every day after single use. This is unnecessary waste, including on the streets and in the bushes. This causes a major environmental problem. This is because plastic often contains toxic substances that nature cannot break down. Many animals accidentally eat the plastic residues and get sick from them.

The government is therefore encouraging the use of reusable cups and containers with the new regulations. And if we reuse cups and containers, we also make better use of our resources.
