Becoming a Dutch citizen through naturalization
What is it?
There are 2 ways to obtain Dutch nationality, by:
- Naturalization
- Option
First check with Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) to see what Requirements you must meet.
What to do.
If you meet the Requirements for "becoming a Dutch citizen by naturalization" make an appointment by phone (0499) 491 491 to apply for naturalization.
If you meet the Requirements for "Dutchman by option" we refer you to Dutchman by option.
- You make an appointment and submit the application.
- You can apply for your minor children living in the Netherlands at the same time.
- You fill out a form saying you want to make the "declaration of commitment. Children under 16 do not have to do this
Bring to your appointment
- your residence permit
- your valid passport
- your birth certificate
- the integration diploma (or equivalent)
- marriage certificate (if applicable)
- deed of registered partnership (if applicable)
- proof that you have lived together with a Dutch partner for 3 years or more (if applicable)
Foreign documents must be in Dutch, English, French or German. Is this not the case? Then you must first have the documents translated by a translator who is sworn in the Netherlands.
What does it cost?
- Single naturalization request € 1,091.00
- Multiple naturalization request € 1,393.00
- Naturalization application of minor child involved in the application € 161.00
- Single naturalization request if you are stateless or have an asylum residence permit €811.00
- Multiple naturalization request if you are stateless or have an asylum residence permit €1,114.00
