Ribbon Race 2024

On Friday, April 26, 2024 Mayor Suzanne Otters - Bruijnen will present 10 residents of Son en Breugel with a Royal Decoration. These fellow villagers all have an impressive volunteer record.

Appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mr. Moos van der Heijden (65 years old) has been a volunteer for 50 years with Soccer Association SBC, Tennis Association Son en Breugel and Carnival Association De Krutjesrapers.

Soccer Association SBC

At the age of 15, Moos van der Heijden started as youth coach of a pupil team. In the period from 1974 to 1996 he progressed to trainer of the B youth and eventually team leader of the second senior team. In the period from 1996 to 2006, he was team leader of several senior teams.
From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Van der Heijden was a board member of Friends Club of SBC. The purpose of the Friends Club is to provide (financial) resources for SBC, for example to realize extras for the club.
From 2006 to the present, he has been a board member of the main board and chairman of the technical committee of V.V. SBC. He was ultimately responsible for technical soccer matters and representative of SBC at matches of the first team. He made a crucial contribution to increasing the quality of soccer training, development of youth players and advancement of youth players to senior teams.
From 2021, he served as chairman of the main board for 2 years. Not an easy task because the board was severely understaffed during that period and the association was surrounded by uncertainties. Partly due to the efforts of Moos van der Heijden, the association has a new organizational structure and a full complement of the main board again.

Carnival Association The Krutjesrapers

Mr. Van der Heijden was as a volunteer of C.V. De Krutjesrapers from 1994 to 2010 involved in the carnival parade in Son en Breugel. In his role as chairman of the parade committee, he contributed annually to the smooth running of the well-attended carnival parade.

Tennis Association Son and Breugel

Mr. Van der Heijden was chairman of the main board of T.V. Son en Breugel from 2000 to 2005. The association was then facing important investment decisions and as board member/chairman, in addition to all other administrative duties, he managed this process.

Marianne van 't Hof-Seijts (71) has been volunteering in the Son and Breugel community for many years.

Parish of Saint Peter Banden and Parish of Saint Oda (after merger)

Mrs. Marianne van 't Hof was a member of the evening vigil group from 1986 to 2015. She visited the relatives of a deceased person, prepared the texts for the evening vigil and presided at the celebration. She was also a member of the parish assembly and thus involved in the general ins and outs of the parish. She helped prepare children for Holy Confirmation for 4 years. She also delivered the parish magazine in her neighborhood for many years.

Singing Society One of Sense

Mrs. Van 't Hof joined Singing Society One of Zin in 1990 (50 members). She has taken on various duties over time. From 2004 to 2012 she was a member of the music committee. The music committee compiles the repertoire and organizes performances and performances. She was contact person for the congregation, the business community, at performances, services and celebrations and organizer of several annual events.
As of 2017, she is treasurer of this association. The singing society was in a board crisis in mid-2017. A so-called initiative group, which included Ms. Marianne van 't Hof, put things in order at the time. After disbanding this, temporary, initiative group, she then assumed the position of treasurer.

Singing group the Sunbeams (SWZ Zonhove)

Ms. Van 't Hof has been the conductor of vocal group de Zonnestralers (30 clients) since 2010. The members of the Zonnestralers singing group are clients of SWZ Zonhove. They are people with severe multiple disabilities or non-congenital brain injuries.

Appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mr. Kees Verschure (age 56) has been volunteering for many years with various associations and organizations in Son en Breugel and Eindhoven.

Zonhove

Kees Verschure has been volunteering at Zonhove for over 30 years. SWZ Zonhove is an institution for (severely) multiple complex disabled children, adolescents and adults.
He does all kinds of odd jobs and performs odd jobs. He transports clients and staff to camp, and provides support during camp week. At carnival he is there and pushes many wheelchairs. Among other things, he makes furniture and planters, acts as Sooty Pete and bakes French fries for the residents. At corona time, he surprised the residents as Santa Claus.

FIRST AID

Mr. Verschure has been a member of the first aid association in Son en Breugel since 1996. He is an experienced and valued first aid volunteer. In the period from 2006 to 2016 he was chairman of this association. He was responsible for the administrative affairs of the association.
As a certified first aider, he is regularly involved in events. He is also a certified LOTUS victim and as such active in training and examinations, also in other parts of the country.

Staff Foundation

Kees Verschure co-founded foundation de Staf, de Sleutel Tot Activiteiten & Faciliteiten in Eindhoven in 2009. He has been secretary of this foundation continuously since then. The foundation hosts other associations in the club building. He helped build the club building. He is still active in this foundation and takes care of Health maintenance of the building and is involved in the bar service.

Saint and Pete Eindhoven

Mr. Verschure has been a member of Vereniging Sint en Piet Eindhoven since 2001. From 2011 he is also a board member. He is responsible for the performances, the planning and the Pieten. He also acts as Piet himself. In November and December he is almost daily active for this association.

Badminton Association Son and Breugel Scarabee

Since 2009 he performs various activities weekly at Badminton club Son en Breugel Scarabee (+/- 100 members). Every Tuesday and Thursday he sets up the nets, helps the youth with practices, organizes clinics for elementary school, supports the club championships, organizes tournaments, the youth camp and the annual BBQ.

Collector

Mr. Verschure has been going door-to-door for many years as a collector for various charities and now in Charity Week (week for various charities).

Appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mrs. Wil van der Horst (age 74) has been an extremely active volunteer at tennis club HTC Son for about 30 years.

From 1994 to 2005 she chaired the internal tournament committee. This committee devises and organizes tournaments. Wil van der Horst organizes the meeting and is the booster of the other committee members. She creates advertisements, provides snacks and is responsible for tournament planning and updating the schedule during the tournament.

Starting in 1997, she was the association competition director for 25 years. Each year she organized the spring and fall competition for over 150 association members. In 2022 a new club competition leader has been appointed. Wil van der Horst assists him with advice and she still has some tasks in her package.

In 1998, she joined the technical committee. Her responsibilities include training sessions, the calendar of activities and the organization of tournaments.

She served as treasurer from 2010 to 2019. In 2019, she handed over her duties as treasurer. However, she has remained responsible for the daily bookkeeping (invoices, collections, transfers), making her an important support and resource for the current treasurer.

Among other things, she was also a committee member of the Open Tournament Committee (2006-2012), is court planner (from 2010), co-organized the lustrum year in 2018 (50 years of existence), organizes many activities and is the question man for the board.

Appointed a member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Ms. Bianca Coolen (age 44) has been committed to the korfball club De Corridor in Son en Breugel for more than 20 years.

Bianca Coolen has been a member of Korfball club De Corridor since 1989. From 1994 to 2002 she was part of the camp committee. Together with others, she organized the camp, put together the program, and made sure that everything ran smoothly during the camp days. In 2002, due to a knee injury, she unfortunately had to stop playing korfball herself. Since 2003 she has been actively involved with the club in many ways.

She has trained and coached many teams from 2003 to the present. From 2003 to 2011, Bianca Coolen was trainer and coach of the senior youth team. In 2006 and 2007 she was coach of the senior 2 team. From 2007 to 2009 was trainer and coach of the selection - seniors 1-2. In the 2012-2013 season was trainer and coach of D1 and in the 2013-2014 season of C1. From 2021 she is trainer and coach of the F youth and coach of the F2 team.

Bianca Coolen was responsible for coordinating the delivery of the parish bulletin and municipal WMO letters by members of the association from 2007 to 2020. She co-organized the annual flea market, took care of printing the leaflets and home delivery. In 2012 and 2013, she served on the association's board and technical committee. From 2013 to the present, she has been president of the main board of the association. From 2017, she is a member and plv. chairman of the technical committee. In addition, she organizes parent evenings for parents of youth members. She is also contact person for municipality (also in connection with the new sports hall in Breugel) and other associations both in Son en Breugel and beyond. She is also the hall commissioner and maintains contacts with sports hall management and the Royal Dutch Korfball Association regarding the use, hours and competition.

Appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mr. Theo van der Steen (63) performed and still performs volunteer work for many years in various associations and organizations in a variety of fields.

Gravelsingers and Smartlappen choir Rawazzi

Mr. Van der Steen served as conductor and musical director of men's choir De Gravelsingers (+/- 25 members) from 2007 to 2019. He prepared and conducted the rehearsals. He maintained contacts with the music committee and the board and brought about collaborations with other associations (including Bloaskaken, Wa'n Klank and the Krutjesgatse Liedertafel). The men's choir De Gravelsingers disbanded in 2019.
As of 2022, Theo van der Steen is conductor of Smartlappenkoor Rawazzi (+/- 60 members). His work consists mainly of preparing and conducting the choir during the 2-weekly rehearsals and the monthly performances. Furthermore, he selects the music and songs performed by the Rawazzi choir. Since March 2023, he has also been a member of the board.

Korfball Association The Corridor 

He was coach of youth teams at Korfball club De Corridor from 2001 to 2007. He also served as referee for many games from 2006 to 2013. In 2016 and 2017, he was chairman of the technical committee and jury chairman. The jury chairman is in charge of ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations applicable to the competition.

Pieter Brueghel Tennis Association

At Tennis Association Pieter Brueghel, he was a member of the technical committee from 2003 to 2009 and organized tournaments and KNLTB competitions. From 2009 to 2015 he served as president of this association. After the presidency ended (maximum term of 6 years), Theo van der Steen co-organized the annual 50+ tournament until 2019. As a member of the handyman team, he did all kinds of maintenance work on the tennis park and at the pavilion from 2017 to 2019.

KWF 

Mr. Van der Steen has been a collector for KWF since 1995. From 2013 to 2022, he was also the treasurer of the KWF collection team in Son and Breugel.

Dutch Association for Pharmacy Workers in Hospitals (NVFZ).

Mr. Van der Steen served as president of the Dutch Association of Pharmacy Workers in Hospitals (NVFZ) for more than 20 years beginning in 1989. From 2009, he held the role of treasurer. In addition to these duties, he organized symposia and took care of membership administration.
The NVFZ represents the collective interests of all employees in hospital pharmacies. The NVFZ identifies bottlenecks and responds to new developments. It serves as a source of questions, provides training and coaching within the profession if necessary, and maintains contacts with trade associations and politics. The national significance of this professional association is an important consideration in its appointment as a Knight.

Appointed member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mrs. Cora Carp - Stoop (84 years old) has been committed for more than 30 years to the reception, civic integration and integration of refugees.

Accommodating refugees

Since 1993, Ms. Carp has been committed to helping refugees. She even, along with her late husband, offered shelter to refugees. She has sheltered at least 7 refugees for short or long periods of time from 1993 to the present. They included people from Kosovo, Afghanistan, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
Ms. Carp is active for Takecarebenb, which connects refugees with residency status, who are waiting for housing, to host families for 3 months. During their stay, Ms. Carp also gives language lessons to her guests.

Foundation Refugee Council Son and Breugel and Lev group Son and Breugel

Ms. Carp has been active with the Foundation Refugee Council Son and Breugel since 2004. She has dedicated herself to good education for refugees and status holders since 2004. She was also the initiator and coordinator of the language coaches until 2017.
Until 2018, Refugee Council was under Stichting Vluchtelingenwerk. As of 2018, she works as
volunteer for Refugee Work from the LEVgroep. The LEVgroep is a welfare organization for all residents.
As a social counselor, Ms. Carp supports permit holders who are assigned housing in Son en Breugel from an asylum seekers' center. She ensures that the permit holder learns to find his way around. Among other things by explaining practical matters and helping with forms, letters and referrals. She also helps with learning the Dutch language. She does this both individually and in groups.

Appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mrs. Esther Hendriks - van Gogh (52 years old) has been volunteering within the Son and Breugel community for many years.

Carnival Association The Krutjesrapers

Esther Hendriks-van Gogh is as a volunteer of Carnival Association the Krutjesrapers from 1998 until now involved in the carnival parade in Son en Breugel. She has contributed greatly to the smooth running of this annual event. In the parade committee she arranges everything from invitations to jury lists. She has had an important role in the committee around the judging and assessment of the parade.

Mother of the day Foundation TSO de Harlekijn

In the period from August 2008 to June 2016, Esther Hendriks spent an average of about 4 hours a week as a volunteer at the intermediate school care (TSO) at elementary school de Harlekijn in Son. She supervised the children during lunch, helped them where necessary and after dinner she made sure everything was tidied up again. Esther also participated in evening work meetings, first aid training or theme evenings focused on dealing with children.

Ice festival Son and Breugel

From 2011 to 2015, Esther Hendriks planned the scheduling of volunteers for the annual Ice Festival during the Christmas period in Son en Breugel. It was always a huge job to make sure there were enough volunteers on all time slots. Every year between 100 and 120 volunteers had to be scheduled.

Neighborhood association Gehurterbij and Zonhove

Since 2011, Esther Hendriks has been committed to neighborhood association Gehurterbij. This neighborhood association also includes the residents of Zonhove. SWZ Zonhove is an institution for (seriously) multiply complex disabled children, adolescents and adults.
She is secretary and one of the initiators who ensures that Gehurterbij can organize many and very nice activities. The activities she has been involved in include: the Christmas market, the bee greenhouse, the neighborhood BBQ, the nativity trail and various board duties.
The neighborhood association Gehurterbij was one of the 10 nominated social projects for the Orange Fund's Appeltjes van Oranje in 2023.
From 2007 to 2015, Esther Hendriks worked as a volunteer in therapeutic horseback riding at SWZ Zonhove and Libra. She worked together with a physiotherapist and accompanied children in horseback riding. Horseback riding complements physical therapy to train motor skills and independence.
From 2007 to 2018, Ms. Hendriks took care of the animals at Zonhove's petting zoo on the weekends and vacations with a number of other volunteers.
She also volunteers at the themed celebrations for Zonhove's clients that are organized about 6 times a year.
Esther Hendriks also personally helps a Zonhove client as a volunteer. She regularly undertakes all kinds of activities with this client.

Appointed member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mrs. Annemarie Swinkels-van de Gevel (65 years old) has been volunteering in various ways and with various organizations in Son en Breugel for many years.

Canal Street Neighborhood Association

Annemarie Swinkels was an active member of neighborhood association De Kanaalstraat from 1990 to 2022. From 1990 to 1996 she was also a member of the board in the role of secretary. From 2007 to 2022 she was again an active member of the board. She organized the neighborhood clean-up day and the coffee afternoon. She was also very active during the period when she was not formally on the board. She collected dues, was a hostess in the clubhouse, was a member of the finance committee and organized activities for the members of the association several times a year.

Caregiver

From 2009 to 2020, Ms. Swinkels was a caregiver for her disabled neighbor. She visited
her regularly and helped her in various ways.

Maintenance Red Cross Eindhoven

Starting in 2021, Annemarie Swinkels will help maintain the large garden at the Red Cross in Eindhoven.

Ice festival Son and Breugel

From 2010 to 2019, Ms. Swinkels volunteered at the annual Ice Festival during the Christmas season in Son en Breugel. She was a regular volunteer especially with the box office and skate distribution.

Control of Japanese Knotweed

Annemarie Swinkels is one of the volunteers helping to control Japanese Knotweed starting in 2021. During the growing season, 1.5 to 2 hours are spent every Saturday morning working on the control.

AutoMate ANWB

From 2017 to the present, Ms. Swinkels has been active as a driver with AutoMaatje Son en Breugel. Under the banner of ANWB AutoMaatje, volunteers transport their less mobile fellow locals for a small expense allowance. Since she started, she has made over 250 trips (there and back).

Berkenstaete nursing home

Since 2012, she has also been active as a volunteer in SWZ Archipel's nursing home, Berkenstaete. On the dementia ward, among other things, she takes care of a wellness activity.

Collector

Ms. Swinkels has been going past the doors as a collector for various charities for many years:
the Kidney Foundation, the Lung Fund, the Heart Foundation and the Goede Doelen Week (week for various charities).

Appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau

Mr. Patrick van Stiphout (age 55) has been an executive member of the gymnastics association ARS in Eindhoven for more than 40 years.

At the age of 14, he started as an assistant leader at gymnastics club ARS in Eindhoven (+/- 300 members). He helped teach/train several trainers in the period from 1983 to 1988. From 1988 to 2000 he was head coach of the boys competition groups. Besides teaching he was also responsible for the preparation of the training sessions and the administrative communication.

From 1995 to the present he has been part of the technical committee (TC). First as a member and from 2000 as chairman. The TC has a different structure since 2012 and several working groups have emerged. Patrick van Stiphout is still involved in the working groups finance, communication, technical matters and activities. As chairman of the TC, he has attended all board meetings since 2011. He joined the board in 2000 and has been the supporting force of the board for over 20 years.

In addition, Mr. Van Stiphout performs many other duties within the association. He is the indispensable help and support for the membership administration and treasurer. He is creator and maker of scripts and club magazines. Until about 5 years ago he took care of the printing and distribution of the club magazine. He is responsible for digital correspondence and information and is the contact person for the Eindhoven City Council. He is organizer and coordinator at the regional competitions, other competitions and activities.
