Noise waiver

What is it?

If you expect to cause so much noise that it may cause a nuisance, you need an exemption from the municipality. For example, for construction work or an event.

How does it work?

If you get the waiver, the municipality may give you rules. You must abide by these rules. For example, consider certain times when you are allowed to cause noise pollution.

What to do.

You request the waiver from the municipality. Please provide the following information with your application:

  • What you are going to do that may cause noise pollution
  • date and time when you may cause noise pollution
  • situational drawing
  • acoustic report

Consider local residents

To minimize inconvenience to nearby residents, do at least the following:

  • You inform local residents in advance of when and why the noise pollution will occur.
  • You limit the moments of noise as much as possible.
  • If there is another way that produces less noise, do it that way.

How long does it take?

You will be notified within eight weeks whether you will receive the exemption. The municipality may extend this period by eight weeks.

Objecting

If you disagree with the municipality's decision, you can object within six weeks.
