Give the heather space during Nature Work Day on Nov. 2 at Old Lake
Together with VN Natuureducatie, Scouting Dutmella and Bosgroep Zuid-Nederland, we are organizing the annual nature work day. On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., you will work to keep the heathland at Oud Meer open. You will cut away young pines and birches and create branch rills in the forest edge. Your efforts will give the heathland more space and help protect habitat for birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians.
Valuable natural area full of life
Old Lake is notable for its alternation of heathland, forest and water. This open landscape is important for biodiversity. It is home to species such as the moor frog, natterjack toad and the colorful alpine newt. Special birds, such as the stonechat and tree pipit, can also be found here. With your efforts, this unique piece of nature will be preserved.
Get involved for nature and climate
Anyone age 6 and up is welcome, children under supervision. You can help all day, or just in the morning or afternoon. Every contribution counts. Bring your friends, family or neighbors and enjoy an active day in nature.
