We find it important that Ekkersrijt business park is and remains an attractive area for visitors, entrepreneurs and their staff. Besides attention to safety and accessibility, we believe that attention should also be paid to green, sustainability and space. Now and in the future. 

For some time we have received complaints from business owners about unsafe and undesirable parking situations. Therefore, we are adjusting parking situations and taking parking measures. Some of the measures have already been implemented earlier this year. The planned measures at Ekkersrijt-Oost we have not been able to implement earlier due to objections submitted. The objections have now been settled and as of December 2, 2024 we will implement these parking measures on Ekkersrijt-East. 

What will change?

• On parts of Ekkersrijt 1000 and Ekkersrijt 1200 to 1400 we introduce a parking ban. At these locations it is not allowed to park, because this causes nuisance or unsafe situations. This is the case, for example, at exits. Parking is never permitted at intersections. This is a temporary situation. In the final situation, yellow stripes on the curbs will indicate a stop prohibition. Due to weather conditions, we cannot apply the stripes now. Therefore, we are now temporarily placing traffic signs.   
• We are establishing a parking prohibition zone on Ekkersrijt 3000 to 3300. In the no parking zone, parking is only allowed in the parking spaces. The parking prohibition zone will be indicated by signs at the beginning and end of the area. On Ekkersrijt 3000 some parking spaces still have to be installed. This is not yet possible due to the weather conditions. Therefore, the parking prohibition zone on Ekkersrijt 3000 will not start yet at the final location, so parking on Ekkersrijt 3000 will remain possible in the coming months. 

Effect already introduced earlier

Earlier this year, parking bans were imposed on Verlengde Huizingalaan and on Ekkersrijt 4200 through 4400. Also, the verge at Science Park 5200 was changed from a place with many parked cars to a frequently used walking path. We see that the measures have had a positive effect on the public space, with parking nuisance visibly reduced.
Planning

In the week of December 2, 2024 we will place all signs and the new situation will be active. The parking spaces on Ekkersrijt 3000 will be made as soon as weather conditions allow. We will announce this work in advance.
