We strive to be at the forefront of sustainability. We actively think about how we can live future-proof in Son en Breugel. Electric driving is part of that. We already see that electric driving is becoming increasingly popular. We want to support that development.

Why good public charging infrastructure is important

• Encourage sustainable transportation
  By providing enough public charging stations, we make it more attractive for residents without their own driveway and visitors to switch to electric driving. This reduces dependence on fossil fuels and helps reduce_{CO2 emissions}.
• Improve air quality
  Electric cars do not produce exhaust fumes. More electric vehicles on the road means less emissions of pollutants, leading to cleaner air and a healthier living environment.
• Meeting national requirements
  The National Charging Infrastructure Agenda (NAL) agreed that the further growth of electric transport should not be hindered by insufficient or limited charging infrastructure. Municipalities have a major role in this.

Our approach in Son en Breugel 

In Son en Breugel we are working together with various stakeholders to create a comprehensive network of public charging infrastructure. Central to our vision is that we want to create an optimal balance between supply and demand for charging infrastructure in our municipality. We focus on 3 important pillars:

• Efficient use of public space
  Public space is scarce. Therefore, we strive to integrate public charging locations with regular parking facilities, making efficient use of available space. This also means that we encourage private charging as much as possible, which prevents the need for more charging infrastructure in public space. 
• Collective interest is central
  We strive to consider the needs of all residents, businesses and visitors. Our goal is to find the most appropriate solutions to serve the broadest possible group of people.
• Sustainability
  We strive for a future-proof mobility system, focusing on the optimal use of energy. With this we want to promote the sustainability of our municipality, reduce_{CO2 emissions} and improve air quality.

To strengthen the implementation and realization of charging stations, we are working on a charging plan based on these pillars. A charging plan contains a set of guidelines for the coming years. With this we want to ensure sufficient charging infrastructure that provides an optimal balance between supply and demand, for now and in the future.
