Independent advice from client advocate
Arranging appropriate Health support isn’t always easy. Are you having trouble figuring this out, or are you unsure where to turn for help? In that case, it’s helpful to have someone who can review your situation with you and offer guidance on Health support, youth services, participation, education, well-being, housing, or work and income. That person is an independent client support worker, also known as an OCO.
The OCO can explain the procedure that we, as a municipality, follow through the CMD (Center for Social Participation), indicate how and where a request for assistance can be submitted, and be present during the assessment interview (also known as a “kitchen table discussion”) with the Wmo consultant. If you are not satisfied with the CMD’s decision, the OCO can advise you on whether to file an appeal. The OCO is truly there for you; you decide for yourself whether you want to use the services of an OCO.
How does it work?
An OCO helps you, as a resident, with your request for assistance. An OCO works alongside you to help determine which Health, support, or assistive devices are right for you. An OCO asks the right questions because he or she is well-versed in all the relevant regulations and receives regular training on them. The support is short-term and focused on finding a solution or answer to your question—whether you have questions about Health, financial matters, housing, work, or anything going on in your family.
For example, an OCO can:
- Discussing your question with you, getting everything together.
- Helping you make your own choices.
- Thinking along and looking for opportunities.
- Provide information about the path to help, Health and resources.
- Going along to meetings with, for example, municipality, care provider or care office. Here the OCO helps by asking questions.
- Assist in making an application.
What to do.
You can contact the independent client supporters in the municipality of Son en Breugel. You do not need a referral or indication to use an OCO. The OCOs help residents of all ages with a request for help.
What does it cost?
You do not have to pay for the client support worker; this service is free for residents.
