An attractive, lively and green village center where there is something to do! That is the goal for the center of Son. Not for nothing, because the attractiveness of the center is under pressure. There is a lot of asphalt, unsafe traffic situations and too little greenery. This has to change, according to residents, entrepreneurs, the college and the council of the municipality of Son en Breugel.

What are we going to do?

We are working on a Center Vision for Son. This vision contains the most important principles and guidelines for the center, as a condition for future developments. How do we provide more greenery, more space for terraces and events, and at the same time keep the center accessible for everyone? How do we improve safety? How do we deal with parking?

Since mobility is an important issue for the center, we are pulling in parallel with the Mobility Plan Son and Breugel, which is being prepared at the same time as the Center Vision.

How will you be involved?

We are not writing the Center Vision for Son alone, because the center is for everyone. Therefore, entrepreneurs, associations, residents and other visitors and users of the center can participate in thinking about the Center Vision. we are organizing several activities for this purpose in 2023 and 2024.

Questionnaire meeting Nov. 13

At the meeting on Nov. 13, residents were able to give their opinions on the Center Vision. Would you like to do the same? The link will take you to an information video explaining the draft vision and the questionnaire.

Completing the complete questionnaire, including watching the video, takes about 20 minutes. The questionnaire can be completed through Nov. 20.

The steps to achieve a center vision for Son

Step 1 Engage with business users of the center

First we talk to people who use the center for business or represent a larger interest. Think of business owners in the center, the cyclists' union, the parish and the initiators of the health center. During a physical meeting in October 2023, we worked with invitees on the first outlines of the Center Vision. With the input we gathered there, we will develop scenarios. We will discuss the scenarios in smaller meetings.

Step 2 Thinking along with scenarios for the center

At meetings in May and June, we shared these scenarios with stakeholders. We engaged in a conversation about the pros and cons of all scenarios. Which scenario appeals the most? Where are there concerns? Are we overlooking anything? With the input, we can start making choices in the next step.

At this time, we do not know exactly what sharing scenarios will look like and when this will be possible. As soon as more is known about this, we will inform you via this page, among others.

Step 3 The first version of the Center Vision

In this step, we combine the scenarios into one preferred scenario, which we will elaborate in the Center Vision. Before the council adopts this vision, we will first come back to you. Do you recognize yourself in the choices made? Are you excited about the future prospects of the center, or are you left with concerns? How can we eliminate them? You can give your reaction again. Exactly what that will look like and when that will be, we do not yet know. As soon as more is known, we will inform you via this page, among others.

Step 4 The final version of the Center Vision

With all the input we gather, we make the final Center Vision. The council adopts final version.
